On May 6 at 18:30, we invite you to a screening of “It Was Just an Accident” (Yek tasadef sadeh) by Iranian director Jafar Panahi, one of the leading filmmakers of our time. This is a crime drama with elements of a thriller that combines a personal story with an ethical dilemma, exploring the nature of memory and responsibility.
What is the film about?
A chance encounter sets off a chain of events that forces the protagonist to confront his past. A mechanic recognizes in a driver involved in an accident the man he believes to be his former torturer. However, he has never seen his face — the only clue is the sound of a prosthetic limb.
To verify his suspicions, he sets out to find other former prisoners. As he searches for the truth, his certainty begins to waver, and questions of guilt and justice grow more complex.
The film builds tension through an internal conflict, gradually leading to a moral choice with no clear answer.
