Anastasiia Kosodii’s Lecture: “Humour as a Tool of Agency in Contemporary Playwriting”

July 16, 7:00 PM
Lviv, Jam Factory Art Center, 124 Bohdana Khmelnytskoho St Реєстрація

We invite you to an open lecture by playwright and director Anastasiia Kosodii, taking place as part of the black box program.

How is the “right” to speak ironically distributed within culture? Who is allowed to speak sharply, paradoxically, and humorously? How is this right being rethought by those whose experiences have long been marginalized?

In this lecture, Anastasiia Kosodii explores how the comic in dramatic writing functions not as a decorative element, but as a way of taking a position in history and influencing who gets to speak on stage—and what they speak about.

The lecture will examine contemporary Ukrainian playwriting alongside selected texts by European playwrights.
