Duo Vyriy blends the sensitivity of jazz with the depth of chamber music, performing works by outstanding Ukrainian composers — reimagined with a fresh perspective.

Vyriy” symbolizes a mythical land of eternal warmth and light — a symbol of peace, harmony, and paradise.
Maltese saxophonist Carlo Muscat and Ukrainian pianist Olena Pohulyaieva will immerse you in music filled with sincere emotion and a deep reflection of the beauty of Ukrainian cultural heritage.

Carlo Muscat is recognized as one of the most promising voices on the European jazz scene, establishing himself as a saxophonist, composer, and bandleader with a total of seven albums under his name. His sixth album, Hymns, received critical acclaim, earning a four-star rating from Downbeat Magazine and a place on their Best Albums of 2023 list. No matter which context, his playing is marked by clarity, intent, and emotional depth. Muscat has performed across Europe and in North America and continues to shape his own artistic ecosystem by focusing simply on creating and connecting.

Olena Poguliaeva graduated from Kyiv’s Glier Music College in 2008, and from the Ukrainian National Music Academy in 2013. In 2016, Poguliaieva was a laureate of the third prize at the DSCH International Piano Competition (Dnipro, Ukraine), and the second-prize winner of the 10th Sigismund Thalberg International Piano Competition in Naples, Italy. In 2018, she won the second prize in the Piano Solo Category, and the third prize in the Chamber Music Category, in a duo with Carlo Muscat, at the Malta International Music Competition. Among others, Olena performed at the 2017 Malta International Music Festival, and at the 2020 Valletta Baroque Festival in Malta.
