Film “Dahomey”

Welcome to the screening of the documentary “Dahomey” by Mati Diop – a story about heritage and restoration of justice.

May 28 | 18:30
Jam Factory Art Center Auditorium Квитки

It is a film about colonial trauma, the decolonization of cultural heritage, and the right to one’s own history. Diop touches on the repatriation of stolen artifacts from European museums back to Benin, a former French colony, and explores the layers of history stored in museum objects that we think are silent.

The film opens up a space for a conversation about why the return of cultural property is not only a symbolic act, but also a political step.
“Dahomey won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 2024.

The screening will be in the original language (French) with Ukrainian subtitles. We invite you to join the discussion after the screening.
