Join us in Lviv for a special screening of Songs of a Slow Burning Earth, an award-winning documentary by Ukrainian filmmaker Olha Zhurba.
The film received the main award at the 22nd Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival and has been recognized at several international festivals. This is its second screening in Ukraine, following the Docudays UA premiere.

About the film
An audiovisual diary capturing Ukraine’s descent into full-scale war, filmed during the first two years of Russia’s invasion.
Through locations, people, rare conversations, striking sounds, and silence, Songs of a Slow Burning Earth traces the slow and painful normalization of war in everyday life. Amid collective catastrophe, a new generation of Ukrainians seeks to imagine the future.

About the director
Olha Zhurba is a Ukrainian film director, editor, and screenwriter.
Her short film Dad’s Sneakers (2021) premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and won numerous international awards, including Ukraine’s Golden Dziga and the Kinokolo Critics’ Prize.
Her debut feature documentary Outside (2022) premiered at CPH:DOX in Copenhagen and HOT DOCS in Canada. It received the Willy Brandt Documentary Award at the Berlin Human Rights Film Festival and later, the Japanese Award of Honor.
