The project is inspired by Volodymyr Yermolenko’s novel The Ocean Catcher (2017).
This is a very unusual kind of singing – an attempt to recall long-forgotten songs.
Did Penelope sing them once?
Or did Odysseus hear them from the Sirens?
Songs on the seashore… or songs to the sea?

Alla Zagaykevych is a composer, curator of artistic projects, and performer. She studied at the Kyiv Conservatory and the IRCAM Institute in Paris. From 1986 to 1999, she researched Ukrainian authentic singing as a member of the folk ensemble Drevo.
Her work combines academic genres (symphonic, chamber, electroacoustic music, opera) with contemporary media arts (audio-visual installations, electroacoustic performances, music for film, video art, and theater). Since the mid-1990s, she has actively promoted academic electronic music in Ukraine and collaborated with experimental electronic musicians.
Alla Zagaykevych is the artistic director of the electroacoustic music projects Electroacoustics and EM-VISIA, and the chair of the Ukrainian Electroacoustic Music Association at CIME/ICEM.
