On Saturday, August 29 at 2:00 PM, Jam Factory invites you to the presentation of the book Sense of Safety: Art in Times of War.
The publication is a continuation of the international art project Sense of Safety, which took place at YermilovCentre in Kharkiv and across Europe as an open network of interinstitutional events titled Bridges of Solidarity.
The publication explores safety from political, physical, existential, social, and economic perspectives, while also examining the role of art in times of war — its capacity to create infrastructures of care and spaces of solidarity. The texts by authors who contributed to the project, both on site and remotely, invite readers to reflect on what safety means today — on both an individual and collective level — and how art can become a unifying force in today’s fragmented world.
The book is published in Ukrainian and English. The publication was initiated by the antiwarcoalition.art foundation and published by DISTANZ in collaboration with ilostmylibrary.
The book will be presented by several of its contributing authors:
Asya Tsisar — Visual Arts Curator at Jam Factory
Borys Filonenko — independent curator, researcher, and essayist
Alona Karavai — co-founder of Asortymentna Kimnata and the publishing project ilostmylibrary
Tetiana Kochubinska, the book’s editor-in-chief and compiler, curator, and researcher, will join the presentation online.
