On July 9, Jam Factory Art Center will screen the film Corsage — a feminist period drama that challenges the glossy myths of imperial women.
Corsage (2022), directed by Marie Kreutzer, is a provocative reimagining of Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, better known as Sisi.
In Austria, Sisi is a national icon — her image appears on postcards, magnets, and in popular TV series, rivaling even Mozart.
But at 40, the stylish legend becomes “a woman who has aged.” That’s when her rebellion begins — against court protocol, societal expectations, and even her own image.
