About the film
- Ukraine is preparing to sign a document renouncing the death penalty. Forensic psychiatrist Oleksandr (Andrii Zhurba) and his friend, investigator Ilhar (Navruz Pashayev), are investigating the murder of their colleague, a police officer. The three men were connected by their work, an old friendship, and feelings for the same woman — now the widow of the deceased.

La Palisiada is the feature debut of Ukrainian director and screenwriter Philip Sotnychenko.
Interesting facts
The film’s preparation took five years. To recreate the atmosphere of the 1990s, not only costume and set designers worked meticulously, but the crew also searched for and purchased authentic equipment and film stock from around the world. Some scenes were shot to resemble archival footage from that period.
Premiere
The world premiere of La Palisiada took place at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, where it received the FIPRESCI Award from the International Federation of Film Critics.
