We’re screening the latest satirical comedy from cult Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude — Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World!
About the film
Meet Angela Raducanu — played with raw, animal-like intensity by Ilinca Manolache — a quick-witted and energetic young woman who starts her day at the unthinkable hour of 5:50 a.m., with a glass of wine and a book by Proust at her bedside. She works as an overworked assistant for a production company with the comic-book name “Forbidden Planet.”
Her latest task: shoot a workplace safety video for an Austrian furniture corporation. The exhausting, chaotic run across the city from task to task forms the core of this biting satire, which unfolds over an unconventional 163 minutes — a length rarely seen in comedy.
