On December 19 at 7:00 PM, we invite you to Jam Factory Art Center for a lecture by Joanna Krakowska
“Queer Performance in Times of Hope. Can Artistic Rebellion Change the World — or at Least the Law?”
About the topic
Queer on stage is not always a manifestation of desires; it can also be critical art, political protest, a state of mind – a provocation against what is considered “normal”, but also a constant counterpoint to oneself and one’s own community. The alternative performances of the 1960s and 1970s in America will be a starting point for reflecting on the potential of queerness to bring about change in culture, society, law and oneself. And also, what is the subversive potential of performance in the political struggle for this change?
