About the event

Throughout the exhibition EVERYTHING IS FINE)), we have reflected on the vulnerabilities of Ukraine’s independent art scene: rising rents, the loss of spaces, invisible labor, legal insecurity, and ongoing precarity. As the exhibition comes to a close, we turn our attention to self-organization as an ecosystem that, despite its own fragility, plays a crucial role in shaping Ukraine’s contemporary art landscape.

This conversation brings together representatives of three leading Ukrainian art institutions: Natasha Chychasova, Head of the Contemporary Art Department at Mystetskyi Arsenal; Oleksandra Pohrebniak, Curator at PinchukArtCentre; and Nataliia Tyshchuk, Project Manager at the IZOLYATSIA Platform for Cultural Initiatives.

Together, we will explore whether there is a genuine exchange between self-organized initiatives and established institutions. How does independent culture influence exhibition policies, support programs, and the themes addressed by major institutions? And can everything that matters to curators today be realized within institutional frameworks, or do some artistic practices still require apartments, temporary spaces, informal alliances, and experimental formats on the margins?
