ABOUT PROJECT WARНЯКАННЯ

According to Andrii Sokolov, the project they launched in 2022 began as a documentary and aimed to capture “states, situations, and emotions during the full-scale war.”
The debut release was mixed and recorded at the studio of the musician Monotonne, which, according to the artists, gave the recording a “homely, warm, and therapeutic” sound.
Anton Slepakov describes Warniakannia as “a special kind of silence,” because “no word can describe our state and feelings in February 2022.”
“Each Warniakannia track is a little documentary short. Some parts are fully documentary, others are imagined or interpreted… PTSD was recorded in Voznesensk, Powerlessness in Kharkiv, No War and Conversation with the Refugeeduring our European tour. It’s a completely mobile, traveling machine of memories, recording crimes, and leaving a trace of time.”
In November 2023, the album was released on streaming platforms, but before that, the tracks from the LP were performed at over 70 charity concerts across Ukraine and Europe.
Two years after the release of the first Warniakannia album, the project by Anton Slepakov, Andrii Sokolov, and Yevhen Honcharov announced the “start of a new season.” The new album is titled Warniakannia, Part Two — Call Sign: Publicist. The musicians have already released the first singles: Armored and Shift Machine.
Anton, Andrii, and Yevhen recorded the tracks while serving in the military. The compositions are built around Honcharov’s field recordings — “sounds, ambiances, and everyday military life.” Anton wrote the lyrics, while Andrii “constructed the music from these materials.”
Like the first Warniakannia LP, the double single was released on the Dnipropop label.
