We invite you to a screening of Black Level, directed by Valentyn Vasyanovych — a drama about loneliness, loss, and the inevitable passage of time.
TicketsBlack Level explores inner emptiness and the silence that fills the space left behind after loss. The story follows Kostya, a wedding photographer facing a midlife crisis on the verge of turning 50 — everything dear to him is gradually fading away.
Each day, he captures other people’s happiness through his lens, while remaining detached from his own life. The film contains no dialogue — only the subtle documentation of daily changes and the quiet, growing void that surrounds him.
The film premiered at the Odesa International Film Festival in 2017, where it received the FIPRESCI Award for Best Ukrainian Feature Film.
Valentyn Vasyanovych is a Ukrainian director whose works have been featured at the Venice Film Festival — Atlantis(winner of the Orizzonti competition in 2019) and Reflection (part of the main competition).
The screening will be in Ukrainian with English subtitles. A discussion will follow the screening.
