We invite you to a screening of the drama Godland by Hlynur Pálmason — a story about faith, doubt, and cultural clashes.
Set in the 19th century, the film follows a young Danish priest who travels to a remote part of Iceland to build a church and photograph the local inhabitants. However, the closer he gets to completing his mission, the more deeply he begins to question not only the purpose of his journey but his own faith.
This powerful story explores the tension between spiritual belief and the physical world, between civilization and the untamed wilderness that surrounds the protagonist.
Godland had its world premiere in the “Un Certain Regard” section of the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and won the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
The film will be shown in its original languages (Icelandic and Danish) with Ukrainian subtitles. A discussion will follow the screening.
