For the first time in Ukraine and in Lviv the presentation of the Distant Pairs project will take place! The event is part of a collaboration between CEC ArtsLink, Time Based, ISSUE Project Room, and Jam Factory Art Center.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Distant Pairs series was created by ISSUE Project Room to unite artists unable to collaborate in traditional ways. This year, the series continues with new works commissioned in collaboration with Time Based.

Throughout May 2025, ISSUE Project Room and Time Based co-present three audiovisual pieces created by artist pairs based in Kyiv and New York. Working through the simultaneity of war and multiple crises, these three pairs engage in a collaborative creation that highlights physical distance – yet reveals a deeply layered interdependence.

Featured performers include Maryana Klochko and Oleksii Podat.

On May 24, they will perform a live concert at Jam Factory Art Center.

Maryana Klochko is a music producer, vocalist, and composer from Kyiv. Her works span experimental, pop, club, post-apocalyptic folk, and ambient genres. She composed music for films such as Stop-Zemlia (2021), Memory Box (2023), and Utopists (2022). For Stop-Zemlia, she received two Golden Dzyga awards — for Best Music and Best Song.

Oleksii Podat is an avant-garde composer and producer from Sloviansk, blending experimental soundscapes with intuitive pop sensitivity. He is a prominent figure on the Ukrainian experimental music scene and the creator of his own genre, melodic noise.
