Jam Factory Art Center invites you to the screening of the 2025 documentary drama Timestamp, directed by Kateryna Hornostai.
The film immerses viewers in the everyday lives of Ukrainian students and teachers during the war, particularly in recently de-occupied and frontline territories. Created without voice-over narration, interviews, or reconstructions, it offers a profound and candid look at the Ukrainian people’s struggle for education, life, and identity.
Timestamp had its world premiere at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2025. It is the first film by a Ukrainian female director to enter the Berlinale main competition since Kira Muratova’s Three Stories in 1997.
Kateryna Hornostai describes the film as “an element of a tourniquet” — an important marker of time and, at the same time, an observation of everyday life for students and teachers during the war: from the first school bell and festive events to lessons in shelters and online graduations. It is a story of daily joy and the strength of life even under dangerous conditions.
The film was privately funded without state support, with the backing of the public union OSVITORIA and the production team 2BRAVE PRODUCTIONS.
