Synopsis
Leonid, nicknamed Pamfir, is a former smuggler from Bukovyna who tries to live honestly and support his family by working abroad. On the eve of Malanka, he is forced to return to smuggling to pay off his son’s debts, putting him in a dangerous conflict with the local mafia.

Context and Themes
The story unfolds in a border village in Bukovyna, where life constantly balances between the law and its violation. The film explores smuggling, labor migration, responsibility, choices, and the limits—both physical and moral—that define human experience.

Malanka
The Malanka festival is not just a backdrop but the emotional core of the film — a ritual of rebirth, a confrontation between life and death, and the intersection of pagan and Christian traditions.

Family Drama
At the center of the story is a conflict spanning three generations: father, son, and Pamfir himself. This is a tale of love that forces difficult and dangerous choices.
