Yulia Roma’s jazz original program based on Taras Shevchenko’s poems on March 9!

We invite you to a unique evening that combines jazz improvisation and classic Ukrainian poetry. The program, which has been in formation for ten years, this time sounds in a quartet, where the musicians not only perform but also reinterpret classical compositions.

Referring to Shevchenko’s works, composer and famous singer Yulia Roma has created a number of new pieces in which she reveals the meaning and mood of the famous poems of her favorite author in her own way. At first, jazz and Shevchenko seem to be something distant and even incompatible. But this is only at first sight.

One of the main qualities of creativity is courage and the search for something new, when classical works begin to manifest themselves with “other colors,” emotions, and sound. And it is the jazz direction that provides many such opportunities.

Let’s get acquainted with the singer:

Yulia Roma is a Ukrainian jazz singer, composer, and teacher, author of three solo albums. Her work combines the poetry of Taras Shevchenko with the energy of jazz improvisation. Yulia has performed with leading Ukrainian jazz musicians and participated in numerous music projects and television programs.

Together with Yulia on stage:

Yurii Shepeta – pianist, composer, arranger. In the mid-nineties, he organized the first jazz festival in Vinnytsia. Later, he participated as a bandleader in the first seasons of The Voice. Later, after becoming one of the composers of The Great Gatsby ballet, he became interested in creating music for contemporary ballet. His works are now performed in Europe and America.

All songs that will be performed in the program are arranged by Yuriy Shepeta.
