Dmitrijus Golovanovas and Janas Maksimovičius are an impressive creative duo from Lithuania, who for over 20 years have been creating magical, delicate, and emotional musical masterpieces. At Jam Factory Art Center, they will present their album Thousand Seconds Of Our Life (2019).
The musicians are prominent figures in Lithuanian jazz, with extensive experience performing on the most significant stages, international collaborations, and a wide range of concert locations. However, the most valuable for them is the live interaction with the audience—music is born in the moment, and the listener becomes a participant.
Dmitrijus Golovanovas is one of Lithuania’s most outstanding jazz pianists, known for his unique sound, expressive playing style, and use of “live” electronics. He is a finalist of the European Jazz Competition, a laureate of the Montreux Solo Piano Competition, and winner of the Birštonas Jazz Grand Prix. His playing can be heard on more than 15 albums, and since 2022, he has been the president of the Lithuanian Jazz Federation.
Janas Maksimovičius is one of the brightest saxophonists of his generation. His rich sound, technical mastery, and improvisational freedom create a nearly theatrical performance that opens the hearts of listeners. He regularly leads ensembles and collaborates with prominent musicians, including Tim Daisy, Vein Trio, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Lithuania.
Dusty Grooves magazine describes their music as: “A great sense of variety – sometimes quite free, sometimes more lyrical – often with a nice sense of space around the edges. A balance of modernism and sentiment, a bit like ECM at its best.”
