We invite you to the Ukrainian debut of “The Body Is Only Light”, the new album by Carlo Muscat, recorded in Kyiv in March 2024. This concert will mark the first performance of the album’s compositions in Ukraine. These works, inspired by the early days of the Russian invasion in Kyiv and the subsequent two years, aim to capture and convey the essence of freedom, strength, grief, determination, outrage, love, hope, and more.

About the musicians:

Carlo Muscat (Malta) – saxophonist, composer, and bandleader, recognized internationally for his work. His previous album, “Hymns”, received critical acclaim and was listed among the best albums of 2023 by Downbeat Magazine. His new album reflects the profound impact of Ukraine’s recent history, portraying resilience and hope.
Rodion Ivanov (Ukraine) – a pianist and composer, one of the country’s most prominent jazz musicians. His versatile work spans jazz, fusion, and electronic music.

Kostiantyn Ionenko (Ukraine) – a double bassist, composer, and arranger whose work has gained recognition on All About Jazz. His albums have been released in Japan and Spain.

Arthur Frolov (Ukraine) – a virtuoso drummer and graduate of the Prokofiev Donetsk Music Academy. A laureate of international jazz competitions, he has accompanied jazz luminaries such as Igor Bril, Sergey Manukyan, and Valery Kolesnikov.
