We are back with the results of the Call for Independent Curatorial Research Projects 2026 by Jam Factory Art Center.

We are back with the results of the Call for Independent Curatorial Research Projects 2026 by Jam Factory Art Center. The call was aimed at supporting author-driven research projects in the field of contemporary Ukrainian art.

The initiative sought to strengthen the visibility of extra-institutional research initiatives, support independent practice, and encourage the emergence of exhibition projects that critically rethink key issues in artistic and socio-political processes in Ukraine.

We received more than 30 applications — strong, thoughtful, and highly diverse authorial projects. Thank you to everyone who took part in the call! It is extremely important for us to remain in dialogue with research approaches, ideas, and initiatives that shape the field of contemporary art, and to develop tools for supporting independent curatorial practice in Ukraine.

Following the jury meeting, the shortlist includes:

  1. Research into the history of artist-run spaces in Ukraine, “Weaving”, curated by Nastia Khlestova and Anton Tkachenko (Garage 127)
  2. Project “Inside Out: A History of Ukrainian Queer”, curated by Mariia Vtorushyna and Anton Shebetko
  3. Project “Artists Run. Self-Organized Art Spaces and Initiatives”, curated by Anastasiia Sherhina and Ihor Tymoshchuk (Gallery “Goods from Europe”)

We warmly congratulate the project “Weaving”, as well as Nastia Khlestova and Anton Tkachenko, on their win! At the same time, we remain in touch with all finalists and thank them for their work.

The first open call by Jam Factory Art Center has become the beginning of a broader conversation about Ukrainian artist-run spaces and self-organized artistic practices. This conversation will continue this summer in the format of a large collaborative project.
